JFK Philosophy:

Hip-hop was launched into an urban cultural movement that encouraged everyone to participant and have a voice regardless of race, culture, financial status or even ability.  All people were welcomed to have a good time because the message was peace, unity, love, happiness and fun.  Our philosophy correlates to the roots of hip-hop culture.

It is everyone’s right to get their funk on

and get down to the beats and rhythms

that inspire us to move and express ourselves in

the infinite ways we feel the groove. – Katherine Traver

JFK Mission:

In 2000, Katherine Traver began with a vision to create an innovative program geared toward but not limited to young people with financial barriers who are interested in training to become performers and giving back to their communities.  We work to provide a fun and relaxed environment where young people can express a sense of camaraderie, develop healthy bodies and become inspired performers.  We want each performer to come away with strong stage performance skills, choreography skills, awareness in music, dance history and vocabulary whether or not they decide to pursue the performing arts as a stepping stone, a local success, a way to serve their community, or to just have fun.
